Thank you. I have been having similar thoughts. Just not so good at expressing them. I like to think our God is a loving God I seem to remember that God does the judging in the end but until then it is our job to love all people...isn't a sin a sin?? Arent we all sinners? I do not believe that passing laws will change people.

Josh,
Well spoken and brilliantly thought out. Did you hear from God? Yes you did!!
When we hear His voice, we hear in our heart and our minds resonate with His truth. This post was a perfect balance of grace and truth, just as Jesus would have delivered it ( yes, we DO have the mind of Christ). Will you be admonished, even reviled by some religious leaders who are so bound up they don't or won't recognize truth when they see it? More than likely. I want you to know that I vacillated on which way I would vote as well. But I, too, decided that governmental intrusion must stop, we cannot be the moral police and hearts the are not born of the Spirit just do what they do. We are called to love people and we should be known by our love, not by our stand on any matter other than Jesus and His amazing grace towards a lost and wayward people that He desires relationship with.

Oops Jeff, everyone doesn't have to create the challenges... They can just pick 'em up from any reformed teacher, book, or sermon.

I'm not angry with Calvinists, I'm just sorry for them and hoping to share the good news with them.

There are only challenges if someone creates them. It is clear from scripture that God picked Isreal for them to bless all the nations of the world and it is clear again from scripture that God elected Christ Jesus to bless the world. Again it is clear that Jesus died for the world, because God so loved the world. It is clear that He was lifted uP so that He would draw all people to Himself. It is clear that in Adam all die and in Christ all are made alive. It is clear over and over that the elect are elect in Christ. We don't get in because He picked us... We get Him (or in, if you want to say it like that) because He picked Jesus! Jesus picks us and He picks (or elects) us do we can pick or elect others. Election is scriptural but NOT exclusive. It is inclusive!

I'm at peace with everyone... I love them, I just don't worship the same God they do. The Jesus I know, talk to, and read about defines Himself as LOVE. For me... Living in love warns my friends that some are teaching that God is hate... If they believe that for even a season it will cause them to stiff arm God and even run in fear from Him... I'm warning them by telling the good news... God is LOVE, and He's not mad at you... Yes you are a sinner and I am too but He's not holding our sins against us. THAT IS THE GOOD NEWS!

I'm not into political correctness, but I am into being at peace with all "as far as it depends" on me. These fall under the "disputable matters" that Paul refers to. If you can resolve all the "election" passage challenges, then I will congratulate you for accomplishing something that has not been resolved for quite a few hundred years.

No Jeff... I'm not speaking hyperbolic. I understand that it would be more politically correct for me to call it an error, but I actually believe Satan is fully aware of the lie he is ultimately behind. I'm not implying that everyone who teaches Calvinism is intentionally lying, and they know the truth. Instead I assume they are deceived and therefore not at all deliberate in their false teaching or error.

Let me sum up Calvinism in a short parable-like story.

A man decides to have many children, and he successfully reproduces 13 times. Of course his children can't feed themselves or change their diapers. The father decides that he will pick 2 of the 13 to love and leave the other 11 to fend for themselves. For the two he decides to love he sacrificially gives of himself. The other 11 he decides to artificially keep alive for eternity to torture forever, because they were selfish. The 2 that he decided to love, really wanted to reject his love but he manipulated them with alternating candy and punishment until they basically fell victim to something like Stockholm Syndrome and actually began to love him back. They (the loved 2) were now trapped and they couldn't leave this abusive father no matter what happened.

The neighbors and other families decided that really the father was ultimately good because he was smarter than anyone else and somehow this was really a prefect example of love.

By the way, Calvinists like RC Sproul tell students who don't like this "Calvinist God" that although they think they are Armenian... they are actually atheists.
Love ya Jeff, thanks for reading.

I hope you are speaking with the hyperbolic, Josh - when pronouncing it as an "evil lie." I think "error" is more accurate.

Hey Josh,

I've never heard (or read) this topic discussed in such not-politically-correct terms. The shock value is startling but appropriate. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Josh for taking this hellish doctrine by the horns and doing your part in disarming it. It has infiltrated so much of christianity, it's time for it to be exposed for the error that it is!!
