Would a tragedy like the Holocaust make retribution like South Africa’s apartheid okay?

I watched a video the other day, and I’m sure very few people will take the time to watch the documentary but I wonder if we all should watch it. I’m way too ignorant of history to even pretend to know if this is accurate or not. But if it is even slightly accurate, we should do or say something. I want to go and see this for myself. I want to stand up against injustice if this is happening. But it seems weird, 10 – 12 years ago it would not have entered my mind to ever consider standing up against Israel. But isn’t it just like God to show up on the other team? It happened to Paul, he thought he was fighting for God and then he discovered that he was fighting against Jesus.
I’m almost in tears right now, because this is so confusing to me. I want to see the truth of all this. I want to know what is really going on. I’ve prayed and prayed about Haiti, because I care about the people there, but God has never given me a real passion about going there for long term. But right now, I could imagine going to Palestine and just standing there as a witness. I hear that just having witnesses with cameras is actually saving the lives of Palestinians.
I’m told that this travesty is the best keep secret of our lifetime. Israel is killing, and imprisoning Palestinians and the world is looking the other way. What is the weapon that the Israelis use to force the world to look the other way – history. How does this work, guilt and the “unofficial” right to revenge. Did Palestinians carry out the Holocaust? No, but the world seems to have decided somehow to allow to allow Palestine to pay for that tragedy.
WARNING: I DON’T KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT AND I KNOW IT. I AM AS CONFUSED AS YOU THINK I AM. IF YOU CAN EXPLAIN ALL OF THIS TO ME, PLEASE DO. BUT IF THIS DOCUMENTARY IS EVEN 50% CORRECT, CHRISTIANS EVERYWHERE SHOULD BE STANDING UP FOR PALESTINE AND NON-VIOLENTLY INFLUENCING ISRAEL TO REPENT.
This isn’t for everyone, just like every issue isn’t mine to take on… but I hope there are a few people out there who will watch this documentary and advice me about it. I have some friends that I am sure will want to stone me for even posting this video. I have a few other friends who may be able to explain to me how this video is right or wrong. Either way, I want to know the truth. I’m a huge proponent of transparency. I’m being very transparent here…. I am asking for advice. Help me understand this….

Please do not take the contents of this film as factual. This is propaganda, and is a single shot in an ongoing, vicious war between Israel’s allies and its enemies. The details will be mostly factual, but carefully edited and with relevant facts omitted to shade the appearance in a particular direction.
I have not watched the whole thing. For your sake, I think I might, and then write a commentary about it. But please accept this from me: the aim of Zionism was not any sort of ethnic cleansing, and the tactics of the Zionists did not include any sort of ethnic cleansing. If there were some incidents along the way that can be amplified by a clever filmmaker into an appearance of ethnic cleansing, those are regrettable; sadly, there have been plenty of such incidents on both sides along the way, so that either can be made into a devil by its adversaries.
You will not be able to find non-partisan sources on the history of Zionism; they will all be either pro- or anti-. Still, you have to do a lot more reading before you’ll be ready to make an informed assessment of the situation.

What you’ve encountered here is the work of a small group of revisionist historians in Israel called the New Historians, begun by an Israeli historian named Benny Morris. As with any revisionist history, you have to ask why the new version is different from the old, and whether it is believable or its origins are suspect.
Among the useful criticisms of the New Historians is the observation that its sources are all from the Israeli archives, but none of them are from Arab sources. You would think that would make it a more trustworthy source for analyzing the actions of the Zionists, but in fact it distorts things. Israeli historian Anita Shapira wrote:
It’s something like what happens when modern, American conspiracy theorists latch onto FEMA contingency plans for imagined disasters that involve the government herding vast crowds into stadiums, and represent those as the actual intentions of the American government.

philwynk: I just approved both of your comments, I have no desire for anything but the truth. I would love for you to watch the whole video and a commentary (philwynk mentioned this possibility in a private message) would be greatly appreciated because I really want to know the truth. If the truth involves murder and pushing people just to get them out of Israel or Palestine then I’d love to non-violently defend those victims. I simply don’t believe that God is the author of war, murder, and evil.
I do ask you to be very elementary in your writing, assuming that I and my audience know nothing. Even if I do know some words or details, I will not be offended by your making it elementary.
