Well I’m halfway through chapter 2 of Love Wins by Rob Bell and I (as always) have more questions than answers.

It’s not like it was when I was a struggling, questioning, fearful teenager and Bible School Student though… today I embrace the questions and find that my faith and personal relationship (I believe in a personal relationship with God, whether the words personal relationship are there or not) with Jesus Christ are stronger when I am fully aware and honest about my doubts and questions. Let me tell you what I don’t doubt – I don’t doubt for a second that LOVE does WIN! I believe that whether hell is actually an expression of God’s love or if hell is eventually completed and tossed into the Lake of Fire and destroyed forever (and by forever, this time I mean annihilated never to be heard from or threaten with again)… I believe God (who is LOVE) wins.

Chapter 1 of Love Wins is a must read. Teenagers should read that chapter because it has within it the questions every teenager who has actually listened in church or considered the scriptures has been or is asking! They should read this chapter because it will give them permission to ask those questions out loud.

Chapter 2 is about Heaven… and whether or not Rob Bell is leaving the heaven (another place after this life) you espouse to out or not… he is talking about the heaven (kingdom of God on Earth now) Jesus said we should pray for when He taught His disciples to pray saying “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven…”

Chapter 3 is about Hell and maybe Rob Bell has Hell all wrong. Maybe his history isn’t perfect, I honestly don’t know so far because I’m a bit slow but I haven’t found anything inaccurate yet. (except the personal relationship thing, and I bet he explains that better later in book – I don’t know) But this I know! This I am assured of… the part of chapter 2 that I have read so far isn’t about judgement after we die, that you and I can’t really do ANYTHING about, instead it is about the real hell that people are living in TODAY. It is about real suffering that you and I can reach out and change.

So far I’d say Rob Bell’s Love Wins is worth the read and the buy if the remainder of the book is nothing but bones you choose to spit out… there is some good chicken meat in the first 2 and a half chapters!
